COLLEGE STATION, TX -- September 9, 1997, Cybercom Corporation (Cybercom), a privately held Texas Corporation, announces another area first; the availability of X2
and K56Flex access at no additional cost to members! Cybercom is pleased to announce that it has deployed both, the X2 and the K56Flex technologies for a "total" 56k solution for our members.
Effective immediately, Cybercom members can enjoy high speed Internet access over their current phone lines by using a modem that is compatible with either the X2 technology from US Robotics, or K56flex technology from the group of Rockwell and Lucent Technologies.
Both protocols provide connections at speeds of up to 56Kbps, nearly twice as fast as current (v.34 ) modems which communicate at a maximum speed of 33.6Kbps.
"We're very excited for our members, they can now connect nearly twice as fast over the same standard phone lines, and they can choose whichever protocol they prefer!" explains Cybercom's Director of Marketing, Mark Gillar. "This will save time and make surfing the Net all that more enjoyable."
Currently, K56flex and X2 are available in College Station and the surrounding areas.
There is no additional charge for Cybercom members to use this service, but they must have a modem that is compatible with one of these mutually exclusive protocols.
Cybercom's Goal is to have all of it's members upgraded to 56k within the year and has leveraged it relationship with major modem manufacturers to negotiate special deals which will be offered exclusively to Cybercom members.
With it's support of both protocols, Cybercom is providing it's members with the ability to choose the technology they feel comfortable with. "We felt that it would be better to let our members decide.", says
Aaron Lee, System Administrator.
